Our Story

The Northern League was created to unite the North through elite team pickleball competition. Built on Northern grit, community spirit, and a passion for raising standards, the league brings together regional teams in a true battle of the districts.

Founded by Danielle Frazer and Ian Shaw, the vision was simple — create a pathway for Northern players to compete, develop, and thrive at a higher level. What started as an idea quickly became a movement, fuelled by the appetite for elite competition across the region.

As we move into Season 2, the Northern League continues to grow at pace — expanding from 80 players to over 160 players across the competition. Alongside the growth of the Elite Series, we are proud to introduce the brand-new over 45s competition: The Legends Series.

Together, the Elite and Legends divisions represent one league, two series, and a huge step forward for Northern pickleball.
